latest hotfixes and SP3

Hello everyon
I am very new at this and I really need your help.
We have purchased and installed an SQL Server 2000, Product Version: 8.00.760 (SP3) in a new Windows 2003 Server. I understand that I am not supposed to install SP3a. My system is up-to-date regarding critical updates from widows update service.
Can anyone tell me what additional hotfixes for SQL do I have to install in order to keep my system healthy?
I am confused because I placed a query on the Microsoft Security Bulletin Search Page for SQL Server 2000 (SP3) hotfixes (checked: Show only bulletins that contain patches that have not been replaced by a more recent patch.) and the results I got were
1. Jan 13, 2004, Buffer Overrun in MDAC Function Could Allow Code Execution (832483): MS04-003, Affected Software: MDAC 2.5, MDAC 2.6, MDAC 2.7, MDAC 2.8
2. Jul 23, 2003, Cumulative Patch for Microsoft SQL Server (815495): MS03-031, Affected Software: SQL Server 7.0, Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE), Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000), SQL Server 200
The first one (832483) is installed but the second is not. Does windows updates service install hotfixes for SQL Server or do I have to install them manually?
Do I have to install this Patch 815495?
Do I have to install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) Release A (This release includes the fixes for the Slammer (W32.slammer) worm)? (I found this on another page Most Popular Downloads
Sorry for the length
I thank you in advance for your timeDon't install all of them that I can tell you. Only install the hotfixes if
you realy realy realy need them. I did install them all and it caused me
more trouble than it did good. Just wait patiently for SP4, I guess that's
much safer.

>|||Hi,
If the issues in MS03-031 are applicable to you then apply MS03-031 with
826161 (this fixes a problem from MS03-031). This is the level we are aiming
at. Also SP4 should not be too long from now.

running on Windows 2000. We are experiencing some
performance problems and I am considering applying SP3a.
I noticed in you question that you stated "I understand
that I am not supposed to install SP3a." why did you say
this, I could not find anything in the documents about
SP3a that would supoort this?
Thanks, Phil
