Large Textboxes and paging in PDF files

I've got a textbox bound to a text sql server field that contains about four
paragraphs of information. When I export to pdf the page breaks don't work
correctly. It starts a new page unless the entire contents of the field will
fit on the existing page. I would like it to fit what it can on the existing
page and then flow over to the next page as one would expect.
Another thing I noticed is that if I shrink the textbox to about 3.5 inches
then it works as I would like except that it's in a narrow column. Anything
wider than that and the page break issue pops up again. Thanks.I am currently struggling with exactly the same issue. The reason that
making the textbox narrower seems to fix the page break issue is, I believe,
because the resultant narrow column of text is longer than one page can
accommodate, therefore RS knows it has to break the field anyway and so it
just renders it without throwing a new page first. If the textbox can fit
completely on one page then RS bumps it over to the next page. This would be
fine as long as you can turn it off from a property but it doesn't seem like
you can.
Has anyone out there got a way of fixing this or working around it?

Large report export to pdf = corruption error

Hi,
I have a report which can produce 220 pages if the user select "all" in my
multiple choice list.
if the user try to export this report the PDF file is corrupted.
the same report with only a small amount of item selected instead-of the
"all" (so around 1 to 20 pages) is correct.
The export works fine.
any idea why?
Thanks.

I've never experience this issue; however, it sounds like a rendering
problem w/the quantity of data being exported to PDF. Have you tried
splitting up the results via the report query/stored procedure to
obtain a manageable amount of exported data? This might be a viable
solution.

if this doesn't works, we'll change the prompt options to restrict the user
to 1 value only.

Large Export of Data from one DB of one Structure to Another

Hi guys,

Hopefully this is the right place to ask.

Basically we have have two larges databases, one of which is updated from the other monthly.

For exaplination purposes:

DB1 = Source DB

DB2 = Destination DB

The problem that I require a soltion to is, how do I insert rows from a table in DB1 to DB2 and recover and store the identity of the new row against the ID of the existing row. This is so that I can then matain constraints when it comes to inserting rows into the next table and the next and so on.

This process of storing the ID's as lookups will need to be done for almost every table of which there are 20.

The best Idea we have at the minute is to create a table with two colums for each table (drop it and recreate it after each table has exported) that contains the two ID's, new and old.

This will require using a cursor for each row in the existing table, inserting it in the new table and the using @.@.Scope_Identity to get the new ID and then insert the two values into the temp table.

This too me feels like it will be very slow, particuarly when I bear in mind how much data we have.

Does anyone have any better ideas? (Sorry if the explaination isn't great, its difficult to get accross)

Thanks

Ed
