Layout margins in cm

Some how layout margins are appearing in cm on report design layout.
I would like them to be setup in inches.
Layout margins come up as inches on other developers machines.
How can I set it up so that I get margins as inches and not cm.
Please help.

You should be able to simply type in 0.5in for a margin.
Is your language set to "English (United States) in the report properties?
IT may be defaulting to metric based on that, but in any case, you should be
able to type "in" after your numbers and it should be in inches.

I'm sorry, I haven't got a clue. The only thing I can think of is that your
regional options are set to metric on that computer. Have you checked that?
If you go into control panel, regional and Language Options, then
customize, there is a measurement system at the bottom that should be US and
not Metric.
Other than that, make sure the properties of the report have the right
language selected, and if it still happens, I'm at a loss.

Layout

Just a general note. I'm a .NET developer and enjoy the setup that visual
studio gives me when editing and working with my projects. I have a dual
screen setup and like to build my environment around it to increase my
productivity. I noticed that in the release of the new SQL 2005 Management
Studio there are a number of enhancements but one that I'd like is that when
I'm working with a specific table or view or anything, I should be able to
split up the components onto my different screens so that I can maximize my
space. So perhaps to have the query on one dockable window, the table in
another and the SQL in another. If I switch to another query or stored
procedure then all of those windows should be maintained but for the new
information.

Last Queued Updating question....I think

When I setup my publication, I selected Queued updating. When I setup my Push, do I also need to select queued updating for the Subscriber as well?
Even though I have no intention of doing any updates on the Subscriber, I am only doing this because it was suggested as being the best option.
Please advise. I think this should be it for questions on this topic then....I hope.

yes - this needs to be selected if your aim is a simple failover methodology and it'll only be available if you select the advanced options. If you don't select it then you end up with a non-updatable subscriber, which maybe isn't your main interest, but the implication of this is that you won't have automatic range management of identities on the subscriber and also no simple method of failing back to the publisher if necessary.

and/or failed login attempts on the EM - Server Properties - Security tab -
Audit Level.

This works fine -- I get notified by an email. But I want to execute a job
from this alert to save the login information into a table so that I can
remove the login if it has not been used for a number of months. This is
part of our security audit.
My question is -- how can I pass the login info from an alert to a job?

|||I'm not following what you are telling me to do. Both servers already have this db, the one in the domain is pushing to the db on the DMZ, and now I need to pull 2 tables from this same db from the db on the DMZ.
I am trying to accomplish this with a Anonymous Pull Subscription, but I don't know how to set it up for no sync.

Large SQL update - effect on SQL 2005 transactional replication

I'm a newbie to Replication and recently setup the following.

Publisher and Distributor on the same SQL2005 server, then I've got 7 subscribers(SQL2000 servers) and I'm using push subscriptions. I'm replicating 5 SQl tables which don't have too many changes and these are scheduled to run every 3 hours. In a few days a large one off SQL update with add an additional 10,000 rows to one of the replicated tables. I was wondering what impact this would have on the above setup i.e are there any sort of limitations here. I'm assuming not but thought I would check. I'm thinking it will just cause additional overhead on the server, but the update is being applied when no users will be using the database.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't have any problems, just understand that if you do this in one large transaction, logreader agent won't pick up changes until the transaction has been completed/committed, and the distribution agent will not pick up the changes until after the logreader agent has completed.

i've got the report server setup to relay through the exchange server for
delivering reports. all reports are exported to excel and emailed
successfully with the exception of the largest report at about 16mb. the smtp
logs on the exchange server show the report server starting a session but no
"DATA" is every sent for this report and emails do not arrive. i am assuming
due to the size of the report there is some timeout out issue between the
smtp client and server. any ideas on how to resolve this issue? maybe a
timeout setting on the exchange smtp server? i'm trying to avoid installing a
local smtp server on the report server.

You might want to start w/the root of IIS at the Default Website level
(right-click My Computer >> select Manage >> select Services and
Applications >> Internet Information Services >> Web Sites >> Default
Web Site >> right-click >> select Properties) and increase the timeout
value (Connection Timeout). Hope this helps.

have been a good idea if this report was experiencing a timeout when executed
from a web browser and exported to excel. however, it executes just fine with
the current webconfig settings. any other ideas?
i will note that when symantec AV internet email auto-protect option is
checked (this scans any outgoing smtp mail orginating from the client, not
just in outlook per say) it would log error stating the exhange server
disconnected the session. i did also try with AV disabled to make sure with
the same result.
